Why did my file upload 'failed'?

There are a few possible reasons that your file upload has failed:


1. It was not uploaded in the correct file format

 

All file upload has to be uploaded within a .zip file or CSV, even if it only has one file.

2. Your file was not prepared correctly

 

The file that you prepared was not done correctly. When preparing your file, the first column must be present and labelled as "Name". The values must be alphanumeric, unique and must not contain any special characters.

3. Your file is not a supported file type

 

The Live Mapping tool only support three file types - Shapefile, KML or GeoJSON.

4. Your geometry file is not valid

 

To check if your file is valid, go to https://mapshaper.org/ and upload your geometry file.

 

Once you have uploaded your file, click on "console" on the top right-hand corner of the page and type "--info" into the console and press Enter. If it's invalid, you will see the value [none] under Geometry as shown below.
